All the bodies have been recovered from the debris by Papum Pare district administration, police and locals who all took part in the rescue operations. Notably, this is the third time within two months that people in the frontier have been killed due to landslides.

My sincere condolences to the bereaved families. Ex-gratia relief being expedited to the next of kin", Khandu wrote in a tweet, condoling the demise of the victims.

Khandu has sounded the alert for landslides in the upcoming days due to the likelihood of unceasing rains. "Incessant rain for the last couple of days that triggered landslides and floods have left trails of large scale devastation in the entire state. Reports have been pouring in about landslides in various locations from in and around the capital region. Road communication has been badly affected by nature's fury and there is an increase in water flow in streams and rivers" Khandu wrote in a tweet.

Massive landslides have been reported in many parts of the state capital since Wednesday triggered by a continuous downpour in the last few days, a senior government official informed on Thursday.

After inspecting most of the places on Thursday, Itanagar EAC Neelam Teji informed that massive mud slips at Dokum Colony in Chimpu area on the way to Sange Lhaden Sports Academy here damaged few local houses. However, the debris was subsequently cleared. The already damaged road of Niti Vihar area sustained more damages, he said.
