ITANAGAR: The All Arunachal Pradesh Divyangjan Beneficiaries Committee (AAPDBC) said that the committee will hold a protest against the state government at the tennis court in the form of dharna on September 29, following the failure to address their demands.

Addressing the media at the press club, AAPDBC issue chairman Nido Teji said that the committee has repeatedly appealed to the state government to address their demands. However, the government has failed to address the demands related to the pension schemes, and therefore, the committee has no other option but to protest.

He said the committee has been expressing concern to the state government since January 2023, but sadly, there has been no response yet. Therefore, the protest is following the failure of the state government to disburse the pending pension amounts of the beneficiaries. He said that the Divyangjans are entitled to the Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme, the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme, the Indira Gandhi National Family Benefits Scheme, and the Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme.

However, the Department of Social Justice Empowerment and Tribal Affairs (SJETA) has not disbursed the pension amounts properly and systematically for the past five years.

He reiterated that the department has also failed to furnish the utilization certificate (UC) and the list of beneficiaries from the years 2018 to 2022. Due to this, the central department did not allocate funds for all the schemes.

Meanwhile, responding to the demands of the committee, SJETA Minister Alo Libang said that the state government has been delivering part of the benefits to the beneficiaries, but the delay is from the central government due to technical issues prevailing in many districts of the state. On the UC, Libang said that he had directed the officers of the SJETA department to look into the matter.
