ITANAGAR: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) while condemning the recent protest rally by non-APST people residing in Arunachal Pradesh at Naharlagun on October 8, appealed to all to maintain peace and harmony. AAPSU also expressed its condolence on the demise of one non-APST.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, AAPSU president Hawa Bagang said, “The way the rally was organized and slogans were raised despite knowing that the accused has already been arrested, was illogical as well as intentional to provoke the sentiments of the indigenous people.

The AAPSU demanded that the administration arrests and cancels the trading license of the person involved in the rally. He/she should also be deported for the next four to five years from the State, added the president. He also urged the landlords of every commercial building of the State to collect information with documents of their occupants and submit the same to the administration to avoid any anti-social activities in the future.

Further, the AAPSU president also informed that they are going to revive the Inner Line Pass (ILP) checking in every district so that outsiders who have entered the State illegally would be detected and deported. “We are neither against anyone nor against their business but want our State to be a peaceful one, stated Bagang.

Meanwhile, Bagang also expressed resentment over the mushrooming of organizations headed by non-APST people.

On the other hand, expressing condolence on the demise of Danish Sahani, the All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) also condemned the protest rally and forcefully downed the shutters of shops owned by non-APST people residing in Arunachal Pradesh.

Appealing to the people to maintain peace and harmony, ANSU vice-president Tana Sushil Tara stated, “The loss of life is very unfortunate, but the rally and provocative slogans despite the arrest of the accused is not at all welcoming. Hate speeches during the rally are unacceptable; it gives a communal colour and the consequences may bring more disaster. We welcome and respect the non-APST people as we are a secular State but subsequently, they should also follow the rule of the land. They must obtain an Inner Line Permit to enter into the State, asserted vice-president.
