AAPSU, NESO visit Longkhojan village, interact with villagers

LONGDING: In the wake of alleged repeated intrusion of Assam police in territory of Arunachal Pradesh, a team of All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) and North East Students' Organization (NESO) visited Longkhojan village at Kanubari here and interacted with the villagers on Wednesday.

On June last, Assam police with arms had allegedly intruded into the Longkhojan village and damaged all the standing crops.

Speaking to the media, AAPSU general secretary Tobom Dai said that a team of AAPSU and NESO on Wednesday jointly visited various boundary areas of the State to know the ground reality and problems being faced by the villagers. He said that the State Government had constituted a high power committee to solve the vexed Assam-Arunachal boundary issue out of the court. AAPSU is also its member, so the union is visiting all the boundary areas, he added. "Besides the boundary issues, villagers have also highlighted the poor developmental issues like absence of police outpost, telephone network and roads," he said, adding that the union would definitely raise such points with the State Government.

When asked about their stand on the alleged repeated intrusion of Assam Police in Arunachal boundary, Dai said the people from the State condemned such act from Assam counterpart and it might bring 'retaliation'. However, AAPSU believes that everything can be resolved with round table talks, he said.
