ITANAGAR: MLA Hayeng Mangfi on Friday said that the All East Kameng District Students Union (AEKDSU) was further disrupting the construction work of the Seppa-Chayangtajo NEC road by registering FIRs and alleging him for the misappropriation of funds should come up with improved ideas for the timely completion of the road which remained unattended since 2008.

Mangfi, who while responding to the FIR registered against him by the union and various other allegations said that the union does not understand the technical issues of the matter, and is supposed to be misled by some vested interest groups with malicious intentions.

Addressing the media person at the press club here today, Mangfi said that the first tender of the road project of cost Rs 87 crore was done in the year 2008 when Kameng Dolo was the legislator. Subsequently, during the tenure of MLA Karya Bagang, in the year 2017, Rs 82 crore was released by NEC.

Mangfi said both the amount is from the Rs 171 crore sanctioned for the road project by the NEC and he has no idea how and where the Rs 87 crore was used by the then MLA Kameng Dolo. Now, without any fresh tender, an amount of Rs. 60.66 crores was released as revised cost from the total of Rs 82 crore as an extended agreement with M/s Gammon India ltd. Interestingly, the remaining Rs. 22 crores (approx) was paid to someone as cost escalation cost. So, why is the union not questioning the appropriate MLA, rather questioning my integrity?" he said.
