Aka (Hrusso) Elite Society Called 3-day Protest Against NEEPCO

ITANAGAR: Aka (Hrusso) Elite Society (AHES) has called for a 3-day peaceful democratic agitation from October 21-23 against the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd (NEEPCO Ltd) Bichum Circle in Arunachal Pradesh, for the non-fulfillment of the demands made by the people affected by the company’s project, on Friday.

AHES spokesperson Sheriff Nimasow in a press statement has said that 17 years ago, the promises made by NEEPCO to repair the road falling under the project have not been realized till date.

“The affected people had a very simple and genuine demand to repair the road and create job employment opportunity, which have fallen only on deaf ears,” AHES spokesperson Sheriff Nimasow said.

Nimasow also said that despite repeated requests and prayers to the NEEPCO authorities, including Ministry of Power, Government of India, no concrete response has materialized till date.

The society also stated that the affected people have not been compensated till date. Hence the people have resolved to go on a peaceful democratic agitation.
