ITANAGAR: Curious over the reasons behind the shelving of developmental schemes for the current financial year, the All Arunachal Contractors Welfare Association (AACWA) on Monday demanded that the State Government comes out with a white paper on the financial status of the State.

The association doubted whether the State Government is facing financial crisis or is planning to misuse the developmental funds under non-plan systems or Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Finance Minister Chowna Mein have failed to bring developmental funds from the Central Government.

Addressing media persons here at the Press Club, AACWA president Nabam Akin Hina said that the contractors is facing financial burden due to the discontinuation of many schemes in RE- 2019-20.

“Many of the schemes have been left out in the RE financial year 209-20 due to which executing department couldn’t release payments of the contractors. If there were no funds with the State Government, why did the government invite open tender for any of those schemes,” Hina questioned.

He further questioned who will bear the financial loss of those contractors who have loaned money from banks and private party. The association also urged the State Government to sort out a solution to the problem or face litigation.

AACWA also said that most of the schemes have been cut out are under RE-2019-20. Why not a single scheme was left out under the Department of Karmik & Adhyatmik affairs (DoKA) and Department of Tirap, Changlang and Longding Affairs (DoTCL)?
