PASIGHAT: The newly-elected executive members of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU), led by its president Dozi Tana Tara, visited the proposed Arunachal Pradesh University (APU) campus here on Tuesday to take stock of the ground situation.
During the visit, the AAPSU team also interacted with the officials concerned of the APU and the Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNC), Pasighat related to the commencement of the university. Speaking to the media, Dozi informed that after the visit, the AAPSU team will meet the State's Education Minister to discuss about the Arunachal Pradesh University.
Most of the required facilities are almost completed; officials of the JNC have even offered their infrastructure so that academic classes could be started. Almost decades has been passed after laying of the foundation stone for the first State university, but unfortunately academic activities are yet to be started.
"So we will make sure and press our demands to start the academic activities from this session and post a regular Vice-Chancellor as soon as possible," said Dozi, while adding that the Chief Minister as well as Education Minister have already given their assurance to the AAPSU team to start the academic activities from this session.
The AAPSU president also informed that the team has already constituted a committee to pursue this issue as well as other issues related to the students and for quality education. Besides other issues, they will also pursue the issues such as scholarship/stipend and admission fees of the schools.
