ITANAGAR: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) organized its annual Martyrs' Day to honour the supreme sacrifices of former union leaders at the NEFA Club near here on Friday.
The day is organized every year to remember the supreme sacrifices of former union leaders Late Kipa Kache, Late Tobom Bam and Late Khoda Dolu.
Kipa Kache was the first martyr from the AAPSU, who achieved martyrdom on February 4, 1986 during the peak of the anti-refugee movement.
Tobom Bam laid down his life on May 18, 1994 after participating in the historic 'Delhi Chalo March' organized by AAPSU against the foreigners settled in the State.
Khoda Dolu, former chief coordinator of AAPSU, laid down his life during AAPSU duty on June 14, 2004.
State Information Commissioner (SIC) Gumjum Haider, who is a former AAPSU leader, attended the programme and shared his valuable inputs and experiences with the attendees.
Meanwhile, AAPSU general secretary Tobom Dai recalled valuable contributions of Late Liki Ete in the growth of students' activism across the State. He said that Ete was an uncomplicated person and a dynamic leader under whose initiative mass movement against refugees was organized across the State in the early 1990s.
Ete served as the general secretary of AAPSU.
Earlier on the day, the union also held a condolence for Liki Ete, who passed away on Thursday last.
