Another Arunachalee Abraham Tagit Sorang Summit Mount Everest

ITANAGAR: Abraham Tagit Sorang from Arunachal Pradesh became the 14th person from the state to summit Mount Everest, the world's highest peak.

Sorang is the second Arunachalee this season to climb Everest after Dirang-based National Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (NIMAS) instructor Tashi Yangjom who scaled the peak on May 11 last. Sorang scaled the peak at 2 PM on Monday, official sources informed here on Tuesday.

As per data available through the Nepal tourism department's pass issued to Sorang April 28 last for 75 days, Sorang was in the SST International Everest Expedition-2021 and to leave Kathmandu on April 29 to climb Sagarmatha peak located at 29028.87 feet by travelling enroute Base Camp, Pangboche, Namche and Lukla before the final climb.

Speaking to his mentor Abrham K Techi who is the vice president of the Indian Weightlifting Federation, from the base camp around 3 PM on Tuesday, Sorang thanked all his well-wishers for their blessings and prayers that helped him to achieve this great feat.

The 14-member team led by led by Umesh Mallikarjun Zirpe (Indian), included Jitendra Ramadas Gavare and Animesh Nagendra Sarat Verma Birpathiraju (both Indians), Felix Alexander Berg (Germany), Josette Valloton (Switzerland), Sergejs Belovs (Lativa), Oliver William Stewart Browne (UK), Jon Alexander Chikon Narvaez (Spain), Robert Westreicher (Austria), Sergey Denisenko (Uzbekistan), Vitalv Khinenzon (Tajikistan), Nataliia Vladykina and (Mykyta Balabanov (both Ukrainian).
