Itanagar, March 24: Irked over the state government alleged ictivity to address its demand over the Pre-Paid Meter issue, the All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) has declared 12 hours Capital bandh on March 26 next. “As a mark of protest against the state government we declare the bandh,” ANSU president Byabang Joram told media persons. He further claimed that the government has betrayed the union with false promise to stop the installation of pre-paid meter in Capital Complex. However, the union made it clear that it has reconsidered one of its demands, the construction of the four-lane from Itagar to Banderdewa considering cooperation of the concerned department and the ministry. The union further informed that on pre-paid meter issue, it would intensify the democratic movement till the demand was met and sought cooperation from the common people justifying that its bandh call is for the wellbeing of common people. Earlier, the ANSU had proposed bandh call on February 2 last but later called it off following a meeting with Chief Minister bam Tuki on January 30.Meanwhile, the District Magistrate has declared illegal the ANSU bandh and cautioned that any damage or destruction of public or private properties would be recovered from the bandh callers, if the proposed bandh call is not called off.
