ITANAGAR: Reiterating its earlier demand for resignation of Chief Minister Pema Khandu from the post, the All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) on Monday announced a 36-hour Itanagar Capital Complex (ICC) bandh call on January 13.

On 10 December, 2021 ANYA had alleged that there are several charges of corruption against Pema Khandu and submitted a representation to the State Government, fixing a 15-day deadline for clarification on the allegation.

ANYA later announced a seven-day deadline on December 30 for the resignation of the Chief Minister, after the State Government failed to issue any clarification on the allegation.

Speaking to the media at the press club here, ANYA president Byabang Joram said that the association is left with no choice but to launch a democratic movement of a 36-hour ICC bandh against the prolonged silence of the State Government on the issue.

He informed that the association has not received any positive response from the State Government on the issue till date, while stating that the deliberate silence is deemed to prove the truth of the proverbial saying "Absolute power corrupts absolutely."

Replying to a query, Joram said, "ANYA is willing to call-off the proposed bandh call if the State Government addresses its demands before the day of the bandh.

"If any unfortunate violence occurs during the bandh, the Government shall be responsible for it," said the ANYA president

School students appearing in examinations during the bandh shall be exempted," he added.
