APIC chief Dr Joram Begi on mission mass awareness

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission (APIC) chief information commissioner (CIC) Dr Joram Begi is on a mission to educate the masses of Eastern Arunachal as to how the people could benefit from the commission.

Dr Begi along with two other information commissioners have been holding meetings to educate the masses including officers, local leaders, GBs and students about the role of APIC.

Such an initiative, after holding the State RTI Act Convention here on October 19, reflects the commitment of Dr Begi to the chair he is holding.

Dr Begi informed that they arrived at Kanubari in Longding district and proceeded to district headquarters Longding where four awareness meeting at Lawnu, Longphai, Niaussa and Longding were held along with cleanliness drives.

The Longding meeting received overwhelming response with participation of local MLA Tapanpho Wangnaw, DC Chesta Yadav, SP Bharat Reddy P Reddy, GBs, villagers and large number of students.

The team held a meeting at Khonsa in Tirap district on Thursday and proceeding to Changlang district, he added.

MLA Wangnaw, when contacted, said that the highly informative meeting has broadened the perspective of people about the APIC and more such meetings should be conducted across the state with the present state government putting corruption on its priority agenda.

In fact, the APIC deals with complaints when the designated officers fails to provide information sought under the RTI, which was enacted with noble idea to empower the citizens, promote transparency and accountability in government working and contain corruption.
