PASIGHAT: The Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS), East Siang district unit, organized its first general body meeting on Friday with the aim of providing a platform for the writers and poets to connect, contribute, and share their creative works to enrich the literary landscape of the state and the nation.

The APLS district unit president, Ponung Ering Angu, while highlighting the objectives of the meet for providing a platform for writers and poets of the district, said that writers Padmashree Mamang Dai and Luminary Late Lummer Dai, both hailing from the district, have contributed immensely to the literary arenas of the state and nation. District unit APLS Vice President Mohonto Panging Pao also encouraged the young, budding writers.

Folk Artiste, Delong Padung stressed the documentation of rich folk literature. Meanwhile, members of the APLS presented satirical works in Adi, among others, in the session. Writer Tashiram Pertin also presented a copy of his book Litum Kebang and spoke at length about his book.

Writers Ponung Ering Angu (“Doying: Collection of Folk Tales of the Adis”), litterateur Kaling Borang, Group captain (retired) Mohonto Pangging (“Keerook and Other Stories from North East India”) Dr. Kaling Dai (Retd., JDHS), Folk Artiste, Delong Padung, Manjulata Prasad, and Dr. Ing Perme were among those who were part of the meet.
