ITANAGAR: In connection with the molestation case of a minor girl at the Government Residential School, Karo under Pidi circle in the Shi-Yomi district, the All Ato Goyor Aao Welfare Society (AAGAWS) on Sunday demanded that the police should arrest the alleged accused Yumken Bagra (hostel warden) at the earliest.

The AAGAWS informed that despite the FIR lodged at the Monigong Police Station on November 4 last, accused Yumken Bagra, who is absconding, is yet to be arrested.

Stating that criminals should be given capital punishment so that no one dares to commit the same crime, the Society further appealed to the PRI leaders and Government officers in high positions not to interfere in the due process of police action.

Earlier, condemning the shameful act in the strongest terms, the APWWS also demanded immediate action against the culprit and his booking under the POCSO Act.

The incident came to light after the disclosure made by two students to their parents.

Meanwhile, Mechuka MLA PD Sona through his official social media page stated that he spoke with the DC and SP of West Siang and urged them to cooperate with the Shi-Yomi administration and police to nab the accused involved in the molestation of school children at Karo Government Residential School recently. In the meantime, he also appealed to the public to cooperate with the administration and maintain law and order. "Police and administration are working hard and I believe that justice shall be delivered to the victims," he said.
