ITANAGAR: State Assembly Speaker PD Sona visited altogether 10 villages of 33rd Mechukha Assembly Constituency from July 22 to July 25 as part of 'Booth Sashaktikaran Abhiyan'.

The 'Booth Sashaktikaran Abhiyan' is an initiative of the BJP government at the Centre to visit and strengthen all those polling stations where BJP received less votes in the last Assembly and Lok Sabha elections respectively.

During the visit, the Speaker, who represents 33rd Mechukha Constituency, briefed about the 'Booth Sashaktikaran Abhiyan', its objective and way forward. He informed that despite the government's various developmental and welfare initiatives there are many polling stations in the constituency where the ruling BJP government received very few votes in the last elections. He appealed to them to extend their support to the BJP government.

He stated that the BJP government at the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and State Government under Chief Minister Pema Khandu were very strong and taking up many developmental initiatives for the people of the state.

Shi-Yomi district BJP president also echoed similar concern and appealed to the people of the district to support BJP for all-round development. He informed that altogether 10 villages from Shi-Yomi were shortlisted by the BJP government for less votes, which was a cause of concern.

Meanwhile, under the initiative of the Environment & Forest Department, the Speaker distributed water filters to the cattle herders of the district.
