Arunachal BJP rejects China’s claim over Arunachal

ITANAGAR: The BJP in Arunachal Pradesh condemned China on Wednesday for depicting the northeastern state and Akasai Chin in its standard map for 2023 as their territory. Terming the move as unethical and uncalled for, the party’s spokesperson, Techi Necha, said that the repeated Chinese claim over Arunachal Pradesh as South Tibet is unbecoming and habitual. “Arunachal Pradesh has had no historically or politically significant connections with the People’s Republic of China for ages. The state is an integral part of the Indian Union and will always be without any disputes,” he said.

Necha added that the Centre has already rejected the claim as having no basis and lodged a strong protest through diplomatic channels with the Chinese side on the so-called “standard map” of China that lays claim to India’s territory. The party, while rejecting the claim, asserted that the people of the state would never compromise even a single inch of land to China. The new China map, released on August 28, lays claim to Arunachal, which Beijing considers to be a part of Tibet, and Aksai Chin, which it had occupied in the 1962 war. The map also incorporates China’s claims over the ‘nine-dash line’, asserting territorial rights over a large part of the South China Sea.
