ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Civil Society (ACS) contributed 200 N-95 masks to journalists at the Press Club here on Monday.
Speaking to the reporters, ACS chairman, Patey Tayum said that journalists are most vulnerable to the pandemic. "The media has always been upfront in disseminating information to the public on the pandemic from the day one of its outbreak. Therefore, they should also be safe from the virus. It is a small contribution to the journalists for their untiring works and for the safety while reporting," he said.
Besides, Tayum also requested the State government and the people to use better quality masks for easy breathing as well as total safety. He said that the people in Red Zone areas and those who can't afford good quality masks are most vulnerable to the virus.
"I request the State government to provide good quality masks, especially to the frontline workers and the people in quarantine facilities," he said while adding that the government can utilize the relief fund provided by the Central Government in such activities.
Meanwhile, receiving the N-95 masks, Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalist (APUWJ) president Amar Sangno thanked the ACS for their generosity towards the working journalists.
Sangno also appealed to his colleagues to be very cautious while reporting.
