Itanagar: In an exemplary gesture of magnanimity, a couple in Arunachal Pradesh has donated 22,000 square metres of land for the establishment of a model village near Aalo in West Siang district.

The donors are Gibi Tato and Minli Tato.

The land is located below the Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) Road between Kerang and Keak villages.

As per reports, the village is to be named as Minli-Gibi or MG village after the generous couple.

The couple had been giving all efforts to make the model village (named Minli-Gibi village) and after three years the locals will now see road connectivity, children's park, playground and nine well-built uniform dwelling houses.

"A drainage system, rearing of livestock away from the dwelling places, granary at a planned location, improvised toilets and electrification are being worked out from various sources," Minli Tato said.

Disclosing about the facilities, he also lamented that although the village is a notified one, many facilities are still awaited as village census has not been carried out.

He informed that the jungle land above the roadside which belongs to them will also be spared for the villagers for the construction of a prayer centre and mitigate forest material needs of the locals.

He further added that the village will formally be inaugurated at an appropriate time after fulfilling all the basic needs.

The generous act of the couple also drew attention of Chief Minister Pema Khandu who in a tweet appreciated the gesture.

The couple along with village committee celebrated its third Foundation Day as a part of Seva Saptah on September 23.
