ITANAGAR: Two more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh taking the tally in the State to 16,875 even as Governor Brig (retd) Dr B.D. Mishra has appealed to the people of the State to follow the COVID-19 protocols and take necessary precautions against the spread of the pandemic in the State.
The fresh cases were detected from Lower Dibang Valley district through Rapid Antigen Tests and both the persons were symptomatic. Meanwhile, one more person recuperated from the disease on Friday pushing the total recoveries in the State to16,789, said State Surveillance Officer Dr Jampa here on Saturday.
As on date, the State has 30 active cases, while 56 people died due to the contagion so far. The recovery and positivity rates stand at 99.49 per cent and 0.17 per cent respectively. Lower Dibang Valley district has the highest number of active cases with 12, followed by Leparada and Namsai with three each, West Kameng, Upper Subansiri and Tirap with two cases each and Lohit and Changlang districts with one case each.
The Capital Complex Region comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas, has four active cases.
Altogether, 4,16,577 samples have been tested so far, including 531 on Friday, added Dr Jampa. Meanwhile, State Immunization Officer (SIO) Dr Dimong Padung said that over one lakh persons have been inoculated in the State so far since the vaccination drive began in January this year.
GOVERNOR's APPEAL: In a message to the people, the Governor said that COVID-19 virus has once again lifted its ugly head in the country and the State.
"So far, our State and our people have been lucky to guard well against this deadly virus. However, we need to be now extra careful and strict about protecting ourselves against the second wave of the pandemic," said the Governor.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized on three very important factors -- taking of all precautions like wearing of mask, keeping social distancing, frequent washing of hands and not spitting in public places, maximum testing of people and extensive vaccination drive should be launched as "Tika Utsav" and maximum number of people should be vaccinated against the virus.
Dr Mishra called upon all the citizens of the State, the Corona Warriors, doctors, para medics, security personnel to take up the challenge seriously.
"Let us be very strict about the anti-Coronavirus protocols and defeat the onset of COVID-19 in our State," he said.
Wishing and praying for cent per cent safety of the people, the Governor requested all the DCs and the district officials to fight the battle against the virus and ensure its success.
