Arunachal COVID tally rises to 14,852; 100 more test positive

ITANAGAR: Altogether 100 more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, pushing the State's caseload to 14,852 on Sunday. Arunachal Pradesh currently has 1,856 active cases, while the number of those cured rose to 12,959, with the recovery rate now standing at 87.25 per cent. A total of 37 people have succumbed to the infection with 18 COVID-19 related deaths alone this month, informed State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa.

Of the 100 fresh cases, 27 were reported from the Capital Complex region; 10 from Tawang; nine from Lohit; eight each from Lower Subansiri and East Siang; six from West Siang; five each from Upper Siang and Lepa Rada; four each from Tirap, Lower Dibang Valley and West Kameng; two each from Papumpare and Namsai; and one each from Upper Subansiri, East Kameng, Changlang, Pakke Kessang, Longding and Kamle. Barring 27, all new patients are asymptomatic and have been shifted to COVID Care Centres. The Capital Complex region — comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas — has the highest number of active cases at 1,079 followed by West Siang at 135, West Kameng 78 and East Siang 70. As many as 3,18,479 samples were examined for COVID-19 so far, including 1,846 on Saturday, added Dr Jampa.
