Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Education Minister, Taba Tedir said that the government has approved the proposal to reopen schools for classes X and XII as the CBSE examinations would commence around March, 2021.

There will be no pre-board examination for the students of class X and XII, the minister further added.

Taba's main concern was towards the students living in remote areas having trouble in attending online classes due to network coverage.

The examination of classes V and VIII will not be conducted this year. The government will come to a decision about opening classes IX and XI from December, 2020 if everything is under control for 15 days, Niharika Rai, Education Secretary, Government of Arunachal Pradesh added. Classes I to VIII, hostels, residential schools and coaching institutes will remain closed.

The decision was taken only after community-based organisations were held and parents gave their consent to send their children to school, in case it reopens.

Commending PM Narendra Modi for bringing the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the minister said that around 300 schools will be set up for Early Childhood Care Education (ECCE) at a cost of Rs 150 crores across the state. Under NEP 2020, vocational education, local arts and craft and mother-tongue learning will be given priority.

The secretary said the classes will start strictly by following the SOP, including use of hand sanitizer, face masks and social distancing by all.

Colleges of Arunachal Pradesh will follow the Rajiv Gandhi University's academic schedule.
