ITANAGAR: The Lohit district administration is gearing up for the Parshuram Kund Festival (PKF), scheduled from January 12 to 16 at the famous pilgrimage site. All the necessary arrangements to facilitate the visiting pilgrims have been put in place, Lohit deputy commissioner Shashvat Saurabh said during a press meet at the mini secretariat in Tezu, the headquarters of Lohit district, on Monday. Parshuram Kund, located in Wakro in Lohit district, witnesses a huge annual gathering of pilgrims from across the country for a holy dip at the Kund on Makar Sankranti. He said the district administration has initiated several strategies for a comfortable and hustle-free holy dip in the Kund. The DC also presented the traffic plan to be followed by the pilgrims visiting the holy site. He said vehicles coming from Sunpura-Shantipur-Roing can enter from the Chowkham tri-junction via the Digaru checkpoint, traversing the Lohit bridge.

For exit, the pilgrims can use Tohangam-O point after a holy dip at the Kund. Saurav said that devotees can avail an inner-line permit (ILP) in advance online to avoid last-minute rush. He disclosed that pilgrim facilitation centres have been set up at the Dirak check gate in Namsai district, the Shantipur check gate in Lower Dibang Valley, and the Digaru and Medo check gates in Lohit district to provide temporary ILPs and for necessary information related to the festival. The district administration has also developed a website for online registration and ILPs @ www. parshuramkund. arunachal.gov. in Consumption of alcohol and non-vegetarian food items in and around the temple premises is strictly prohibited, the DC said, urging all to abide by the advisories for the success of the festival. Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein will officially inaugurate the festival on January 13.
