ITANAGAR: Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar on Monday reviewed a meeting of State Steering Committee for Immunization (SSCI) on the preparedness of the ‘Intensified Mission Indradhanush-2.0’ which is to be rolled out from December next month.
The programme, ‘Intensified Mission Indradhanush-2.0’ aims to achieve the target of 90% full-immunization coverage of children between 0-2 years of age and pregnant women. However, the Chief Secretary asked the Health and Family Welfare Department to devise the entire Immunization mechanism of the State so that the State is able to achieve 97% full immunization.
With an objective to reach out to the unreached, the Chief Secretary called upon all the other departments to work in coordination with the Health and Family Welfare Department and lend their support in the areas where their assistance is required.
To address local issues which remain a challenge in many parts of the State, Kumar stressed on the use of robust communication strategies like FM Radio Channels and community radios, mobile SMSs to carry out the message of IMI-2.0 to the masses. He suggested use of local dialects in the messages for awareness of the general public about the IMI.
He also advised that a reward in the form of cash or kind may be awarded to the best-performing ANM with 100 per cent IMI 2.0 coverage.
The IMI-2.0 will be rolled out from December 2, 2019, and will continue up to March 2, 2020, in four rounds at 18 identified districts in Arunachal Pradesh.
Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare Dr. AC Verma, Secretary WCD Niharika Rai, Secretary IPR Himanshu Gupta and others were present in the meeting in Chief Secretary’s Office Chamber, Civil Secretariat on Monday.
