Arunachal Government regulates opening and closing shops to avoid crowd

ITANAGAR: With the country entering the third phase of the nationwide lockdown with more relaxations since Monday, many shops and business establishments in Arunachal Pradesh have started functioning normally following all prescribed protocols on Tuesday.

The State government in order to avoid and regulate overcrowding in market areas has decided to open and close shops on rotation basis.

In the State capital, all the shops on the right side of the NH-415 from Hollongi to Banderdewa would be open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday while those on the left side of the highway would remain open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday respectively, official sources informed.

The State government has permitted resumption of ongoing construction works with the existing labourers and as a corollary; all hardware shops would be opened to meet the requirement of the construction works.

All other shops, markets, standalones would also remain open except cinema halls, swimming pools, gymnasiums, bars and auditoriums and other restricted ones, the source said. Bonded warehouses, wholesale vends and retail wine shops remained open in the state capital while transportation of liquor consignment has been allowed. The state government has fixed the working hours for the wine shops from 9 am to 5 pm. The State government has also directed all the wine shop owners to follow the prescribed protocols.
