ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brigadier (Retired) Dr B D Mishra Tuesday paid homage to the brave soldiers of the country, who made the supreme sacrifice while protecting the motherland in the Galwan Valley on June 15 last year.

The Governor saluted them for their bravery, courage, patriotism and supreme sacrifice in their service to the nation.

Recalling the supreme sacrifice of the soldiers of the 16th Battalion of the Bihar Regiment, led by their Commanding Officer Col B Santosh Babu, the governor said that the sacrifice made by the soldiers have not gone in vain. "They fought gallantly and dropped many enemy soldiers dead. The nation is proud of them and their mission to ensure that every inch of mother India, anywhere everywhere along the international boundary, is safe and secured," BD Mishra said.

Dr Mishra said that India is a traditionally peace-loving country but when its borders are threatened, the people are always ready to make any sacrifices.

Reposing his faith in the capability of the Indian Armed Forces, the governor said that India under present bold and determined political leadership is capable of defending itself against any threat to the nation.

"There cannot be any compromise with the integrity and sovereignty of our country," Mishra added.
