Arunachal Governor BD Mishra presents citation to 19 Bihar Regiment

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr BD Mishra Friday presented a citation to the 19th Battalion of the Bihar Regiment at Raj Bhavan here, which was received by Commanding Officer of the Regiment Col Anand S Patil, Sub Maj Kishore Pandey and sepoy Piyush Kumar.

The Governor cited the Army unit for their conspicuous professional proficiency, operational preparedness, élan and good work in extending valuable help and assistance to the civil administration and the local population.

He also commended them for their excellent operational role in achieving their three distinguished niches - zero physical or battle casualty, zero military transport accidents and zero indiscipline incidents.

Felicitating the Commanding Officer and men of 19 Bihar, BD Mishra advised them to achieve utmost physical fitness, hone their expertise in weapon handling and maintain spartan discipline.

He asked them to serve the nation with pride and good examples.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the National Monuments Authority (NMA) Tarun Vijay called on the governor at Raj Bhavan here and discussed the preservation of monuments in the state and better care of the centrally protected monuments.

The Governor, who toured Bhismaknagar and has keenly studied the archaeological site of the place, emphasised that the remnants of the historical place, which is under a centrally protected monument, must be taken care of and local national monument officials must be supported and assisted for its proper restoration and conservation. He said that the place has legendary importance in the cultural bond of not only the people of Arunachal Pradesh but also for other states of India, particularly Gujarat who revere Bhismaknagar as the birthplace of their celebrated ancestral Queen Rukmini, the noble consort of Lord Shri Krishna.

Mishra suggested for sanction of a project from NMA for the protection of selected monuments in the state, which have age-old religious, historical and traditional importance for our people.

He also suggested regular visits and meetings of state departmental personnel and NMA officials for regular monitoring and supervision of the treasured monuments.

The NMA Chairman, who was accompanied by Hemraj Kamdar and Prof (Dr) M Kailasa Rao, assured the governor to take measures for the best care of the state monuments and archaeological sites, an official release informed here.
