ITANAGAR: Union Minister for Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju on Thursday called on Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) BD Mishra at the Raj Bhawan here and discussed development projects in the State, particularly the Greenfield airport at Hollongi, starting of the State University at Pasighat and appointment of key academic and administrative post holders.

The Governor, who visited the Hollongi Airport construction site in November last year, shared his observations with the Union Minister.

He emphasised that along with the primary construction of the runway, the complementary structures and services like Air Traffic Control tower and security organization must come up simultaneously.

Mishra said that the selection of personnel, including lady police officers and personnel, training of airport security personnel and installation and use of security equipment and their billeting must be put in place at the earliest.

He said that the progress of the runway, security, power and water supplies is being closely monitored by the State Government.

The Governor urged Rijiju to expedite the commissioning of the airport through his good offices.

State Director General of Police RP Upadhyaya and Civil Aviation Secretary Swapnil Naik were also present at the meeting.
