ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr BD Mishra on Saturday extended his greetings to the people of the State on the special occasion of International Day of Labour, particularly the manual workers, who are the creators of infrastructure, builders of resources and the backbone of nation's development.

The Governor in his message said that day, popularly known as 'May Day', commemorates the recognition for fair labour practices.

"It aims to promote, inter alia, awareness about labour welfare issues, particularly minimum wage law, raising the amenity for labourers, eradicating forced labour and protecting the rights of workers. This day reminds all of us to strengthen the dignity of workers," he said.

"In today's exacting environment, it is our responsibility to prepare our workers for the new challenges for a new and bright India. The workforce on their part must put in their best to enhance productivity and improve the quality of the goods and services they produce and provide," Mishra said.

"On this day, let us pledge to provide the basic wages, safety and security to the labour force in letter and spirit. For having a prosperous, peaceful and secure India, everyone must work in the spirit of the call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas aur Sabka Prayas'," the Governor added in his message.
