Arunachal Governor B.D Mishra, CM Pema Khandu greet people on festivals

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig. (retd) Dr B.D. Mishra and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have wished the people of the State especially the Idu-Mishmi community on the eve of Reh festival. The six-day festival begins on Monday. Both also greeted the people on the eve of Donggin festival of the Adi community and Ali-aye Ligang of the Mishings.

The Governor expressed his hope that the occasions will herald a year of prosperity and tranquility.

"Agriculture is the prime occupation of the rural communities in the state. Accordingly, our people celebrate a large number of agriculture related festivals. The Donggin and Ali-aye Ligang are also agricultural prosperity linked pursuits by the people. It is thanks giving prayer and celebration by our farmers for a good harvest. I am sanguine that the occasion will continue to be an important part of our tribal culture and festivity," the Governor said in his message.

In his message to the people, Mishra said that Idu Mishmi is one of the most culturally rich tribes of the state and their age-old traditions and ethnicity are unique and extraordinary. He exuded confidence that the festival celebration would help in further propagating and preserving the cultural identity of the community.

Khandu in his message prayed 'Nanyi Inyitaya' to shower her choicest blessings on the people and the land for good health and properity.

"Reh symbolizes the essence of the Idu-Mishmi community and it's praiseworthy that they celebrate it with great pomp and traditional fervor every year. Our indigenous festivals are our identity and connect to our roots," he said, adding, "I join my Adi brothers and sisters in celebrating Donggin and welcome the sowing season with prayers for good health and prosperity of every community of Arunachal Pradesh."
