Itanagar: The government of Arunachal Pradesh has imposed a night curfew in its state that will be effective from today i.e. Wednesday 12 January.

The major decision of imposing a night curfew has been taken in light of the increasingly spreading of COVID-19 and the rise in positive cases.

According to an order issued by Chief Secretary of the state, Naresh Kumar the night curfew will be applied in all the parts of the state starting from Wednesday 12 January to 31st January 2022.

As per the order, the curfew will start from night 09:00 pm to morning 05:00 am.

The order issued consisted of various changes to be made in different sectors of the state due to a surge in the COVID cases.

The order further stated that all the private and government schools in the state will remain closed till 31st January. However, the order suggested that proper online classes must be continued by school authorities during the working days.

Other educational institutions such as colleges and universities along with technical institutions will be regulating the class timings with 50 percent attendance as advised through the order.

The order also said that only people with full vaccination will be permitted to enter Arunachal Pradesh from other states.

As per the order, the business establishments in the state will be allowed to operate their business till 8:00 pm at night only if the staffs are fully vaccinated. Apart from these, cinema halls, restaurants, public transport, gymnasiums, swimming pools, bars, and offices will function only with 50 percent capacity as ordered officially.

The state government has banned any type of mass gatherings and weekly markets. It has also cancelled the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of the state and Republic Day.

At present, the total number of positive COVID cases in Arunachal Pradesh is 352.

Meanwhile, the headquarters of 38 battalions of Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB) located in the Tawang area of Arunachal Pradesh has been announced as a containment zone for the next 14 days.

The area is declared as a containment zone after eight SSB armies tested positive for covid.
