Arunachal Police Yet to Succeed in the Abduction Case of 2 Oil Company Employees

Bordumsa: Seventeen days have passed since the abduction of two employees Quippo Oil and Gas Infrastructure Limited, however, the Arunachal Pradesh police has not yet made a breakthrough in the case.

On the other hand, the state police, who is leading the investigation in the case seems to be clueless on the whereabouts of the two kidnapped oil company employees.

Massive search operations have been launched by the Police, Army and paramilitary forces to trace the two officials of the oil-drilling firm, who were abducted from a drilling site at Kumchaikha near Innao in December last year.

Changlang SP, Mihin Gambo said that they are yet to get a lead in the case.

The employees were Pranab Kumar Gogoi (51), a Drilling superintendent, who is a resident of Sivasagar town in Assam and the other one is Ram Kumar (35), a Radio Operator, who hails from Bihar. They were abducted and made hostage by suspected rebels on December 21. The two personnel were engaged by M/s Quippo Oil & Gas Infrastructure Limited operating under Oil India Limited (OIL), Changlang district.

The other employees who were working in the drilling site at Innao in Arunachal Pradesh's Changlang district of Quippo Oil and Gas Infrastructure Limited, left the site out of fear, after knowing about the abduction of their colleagues. They either left for their homes or the Duliajan based office of the company.

Gambo earlier said that the motive behind the abduction of the two employees of Innao-Khumchaikha-based 'Quippo Oil and Gas Infrastructure Limited' is yet to surface. No party or organisation has so far claimed responsibility for the abduction nor has there been any communication for ransom to this effect till now.

Earlier in a similar incident of kidnapping on April 1, 2019, an employee of the 'Udipta Energy Oil Company' identified as Keshab Baruah was abducted. He was, however, released on April 29 that very year. Subsequently, police arrested two of the three kidnappers along with the ransom amount of Rs 28.19 lakh.
