ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh Trade Union Federation (APTUF) on Thursday accused the Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB) of misappropriation of funds.
Talking to reporters at the Arunachal Press Club (APC), chairman APTUF Changma Tajo said the chairman for APB and OCWWB should be appointed from those who have been experienced workers in the trade union for many years. Appointing an MLA as chairman of the board is not serving any purpose as he or she has to look after their respective constituency, said Tajo. Adding that the guidelines of the ministry of labour board order has collapsed. The centrally sponsored schemes funds for the welfare of the labour board have been misused, according to the alleged federation. Suggesting the board comply with the Supreme Court's order (SC) regarding the implementation of guidelines in a proper manner. The chairman further informed that the federation had already adopted a resolution for the selection criteria for the labour board's chairman.
"From the next tenure, the chairman should not be appointed by the elected leader or non-trade union leader," Said Tajo. The other demands of the federation included an enhancement of work charge (WC) in the engineering department (PWD) from Rs. 19,00 to Rs. 24,00, to regularise those workers who have completed more than 30 years and above by framing a proper policy for regularisation, and no announcement of retirement of casual workers under various departments to be made till they did not get job regularisation.
