ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein accompanied by legislators Chau Zingnu Namchoom (Namsai) and Jummum Ete Deori (Lekang) distributed helmets at a function organized by members of the BJYM (Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha) at Namsai recently.
The awareness campaign-cum-helmet distribution programme with the theme 'Safe Ride, Save Life' was meant to promote safe-riding habits by encourage the two-wheeler riders to always wear helmets.
Lauding the initiative, Mein urged everyone to follow the road-safety rules in the true spirit and also spread its awareness to protect lives.
"We must join hands with police personnel and raise awareness on the importance of wearing helmets," said Mein and appealed all to make it 'a way of life' to wear helmets, seatbelts and drive responsibly.
Mein also said that the initiative of BJYM to promote education and create awareness on road safety amongst bike riders is praiseworthy and added that it should be emulated in every districts of the State.
Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were BJP district president Chow Sujana Namchoom, Namsai ZPC (Zilla Parishad Councillor) Nang Urmila Mancheykhun and BJYM district president Chow Rajana Manpoong.
