ITANAGAR: Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey has assured Arunachal Pradesh to explore ways to expeditiously address issues confronting the state.
The minister of state for Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Consumer Affairs, made the assurances to state Governor Brig (Retd) Dr BD Mishra during a meeting at Raj Bhawan here.
The minister during the meeting, discussed with the governor on conservation of forest cover and national flagship programmes - Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana and Antyodaya Anna Yojna, an official communiqué informed here.
The Governor urged the minister to help the state in promoting forest areas and also afforestation programmes to recover the green cover of jhum cultivated areas.
Mishra requested him for special assistance in maintaining the exotic flora and fauna in the state in a planned manner and further emphasized on conservation efforts.
The Governor informed that in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, the state government has efficiently implemented schemes under National Food Security Act and ensured that the needy people benefitted through Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana and Antyodaya Anna Yojna.
He requested the minister for enhancement in food grain allocation for the state while sharing the challenges in the implementation process.
The union minister assured the governor to take up the issues raised by him with concerned officials in the ministry and explore ways to expeditiously address the issues, the communiqué said.
Later in the day, Union Minister of State for Education Dr Subhas Sarkar also paid a courtesy call on the governor at Raj Bhavan and discussed on promotion of education and development of infrastructure in the State.
The Governor informed that the state government has declared 2021 as Year of Education and also has launched the 'Mission Shiksha'. He urged the Minister to render support in terms of the essential resources for the mission.
Mishra added that there were some proposals pending with the central departments for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and Kendriya Vidyalayas for the state and further requested the minister to address the issues.
The Governor said that due to its vastness, the state requires two extended campuses of Rajiv Gandhi University.
"A proposal to this effect is lying with the University Grants Commission," the governor informed and requested the minister to facilitate in expediting the proposal, which he said would help the youth of the state in educational pursuits, another communiqué added.
