ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra and Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday greeted the teaching community of the state on the occasion of Teachers Day, which commemorates the birth anniversary of former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
The governor expressed his hope that the occasion would inspire the members of the noble profession to rededicate themselves towards imparting knowledge and value-based education.
In his message, Dr Mishra said that Dr Radhakrishnan was a great philosopher, a humanist and above of all, an exemplary teacher. To his colleagues, he was someone who was warm at heart. He was an epitome of knowledge, a strict disciplinarian and yet, always approachable.
"Whatever position he held, whether Ambassador or Vice President or the President of the country, he remained a teacher at heart throughout. The teaching profession was his first love and those who studied under him, remember with gratitude, his great qualities as a teacher," the governor said.
He said that the teachers play a key role in student's life in particular and society in general.
"With their far-sighted vision, knowledge, and experience, they have a huge impact on the growth, development, and well being of the students and in turn that of the Nation," he said and called upon members of the teaching fraternity to follow the path of righteousness and high morals of Dr. Radhakrishnan.
"May the celebrations of this day inspire us to follow the ideals and values practiced by Dr Radhakrishnan, which were in the best traditions of our great Gurukula teachers of ancient times, and this immensely contributed to the building of an united, vibrant and dynamic Bharat," the governor said.
"On this day I would also like to appeal to all my Arunachali brothers and sisters, teachers and students to fight the menace of Covid-19 pandemic unitedly and defeat it," he added.
Khandu in a message expressed gratitude to the teachers serving in various government as well as private schools and institutes, especially those posted in rural areas, for guiding and molding their students into future leaders, bureaucrats, technocrats, academicians, scientists, scholars, entrepreneurs and aware citizens of the country.
"As the common adage goes, the future of a country lies in the hands of its children, and teachers, as mentors, can mold students into future leaders who shape the destiny of India. They play an important role in our lives to become successful in career and business," he said.
"They help us to become a good human being, a better member of society, and an ideal citizen of the country. On this special day, dedicated to all teachers, we humbly acknowledge the challenges, hardships, and the special role that teachers play in our lives," he added.
The chief minister also paid tributes to Dr Radhakrishnan on the occasion.
