ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Bamang Felix flagged off the 'homecare vehicle' launched by the Heema Hospital to provide basic medical service to the people of Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) at home on Tuesday.

While appreciating the initiative by the administration of Heema hospital, Felix said the service will benefit the people of ICR to a great extent in the field of healthcare.

Speaking to the reporters here, he also pointed out that this is the first of its kind in the State where doctors and nurses will be visiting the patients at home for treatment of even minor ailments. He also informed that the State government has invested the entire Central health funds for the establishment and upgradation of government hospitals.

"Funds of around Rs 300 crores under the NEC, NLCPR, NESIDS and RIDF have been already sanctioned by the State government to improve the Healthcare sector across the State," he added.

Felix also informed that he has asked the Healthcare workers to call the police for any kind of help and assistance in case of any untoward incidents while rendering their services to the public.

Meanwhile, MD of Heema Homecare Dr. Byabang Heema said that they are planning to spread the services to the entire district of the State but as of now they are only concentrating on providing the service in the ICR. She also informed that the service is only for non-emergency cases and minor ailments. She said that doctor's service will be provided at home for non emergency cases and minor ailments.

"Nursing service will also be provided for chronic illness as many of our elderly people are facing life style diseases. We will also provide Physiotherapy services at home," she said, adding that the services will be accessible and affordable.

She said that a team of five doctors and 10 nursing staff have been assigned for the homecare service as of now. However, the entire doctors and staff will be available as per need.
