Itanagar: Several districts in Arunachal Pradesh are reeling under darkness since Monday evening due to technical fault in the 132 KV transmission tower line between Daporijo in Upper Subansiri district and Aalo in West Siang district, power department official said here on Wednesday.
The districts namely Upper Subansiri, West Siang, East Siang, Lower Subansiri, Lepa Rada, Shi-Yomi and Lower Dibang Valley district are facing power crisis since the power tripped at around 7.20 PM on Monday, Transmission executive engineer, Hibu Bama, under whose charge the transmission line between Daporijo and Aalo lies, informed.
However, despite adverse weather condition, power department workers could detect the fault on Wednesday between tower 80 and 81 near Maro village in Upper Subansiri district which is 26.3 km line distance from Daporijo sub-station, the official said.
Restoration process is on, he said.
Meanwhile, an officer of the Power Grid Corporation Ltd informed that the transmission section between Daporijo to Aalo is under the purview of the state government.
“The 132 KV transmission line from Pasighat to Roing, Roing to Tezu, from Tezu to Namsai is under the Power Grid. If there is a fault between these lines, the PGCL is responsible,” said the official.
The 132 KV transmission line through which Roing receives its power generated at NEEPCO’s Ranganadi Dam is a lengthy transmission line and prone to damages. In the last few months, most power interruptions have arisen from this section, which is under the care and maintenance of the state power department.
The longest continuous disruption was in the last monsoon when the power supply was affected for about one and a half months.
