Arunachal Pradesh logs 238 fresh COVID cases; tally at 49,441

ITANAGAR: The COVID-19 caseload in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 49,441, with 238 more people tested positive for the infection during the last 24 hours, said State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa here on Friday. The toll in the State remained at 236 with no casualty reported in the past 24 hours.

The Capital Complex Region recorded the highest number of new cases at 80, followed by Lower Subansiri (47), Papumpare (18), East Siang (13), Lohit (12), West Kameng and Upper Subansiri at 9 each and Tawang at 8 cases. A total of five fresh cases each were also reported from Lower Dibang Valley, Namsai and Siang, four each from Leparada, Lower Siang, Upper Siang and Longding, three from Kamle, two each from Changlang and West Siang and one each from Tirap, East Kameng, Dibang Valley and Anjaw district respectively.

Among the fresh cases, 219 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 15 through RT-PCR and four by TrueNat methods, said the SSO, adding that 91 people were with symptoms. The active cases in the State now stand at 3,226.

As many as 349 patients were cured of the disease on Thursday taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 45,979.

The recovery rate among the Coronavirus patients in the State stand at 93 per cent while the active percentage stands at 6.52 and the positivity rate at 4.78 per cent.

The Capital Complex Region -- comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas -- has the highest number of active cases at 910, followed by Lower Subansiri (371), Papumpare (294), West Kameng (181), East Siang (145) and Lohit at 142 cases.

Altogether, 9,63,339 samples have been tested for COVID-19 so far, including 4,970 on Thursday, added Jampa.

Meanwhile, State Immunisation Officer (SSO) Dr Dimong Padung informed that a total of 8,72,350 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine doses so far in the State since the inoculation drive began in January this year.
