ITANAGAR: As many as 295 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, pushing the virus tally in the northeastern State to 35,227, a senior health official said here on Tuesday. The number of coronavirus deaths remained at 167, with no fresh casualty reported in the frontier State in the past 24 hours, the official said.

The Capital Complex Region reported the highest number of new cases at 73, followed by Upper Subansiri (37), Changlang (23), West Kameng (21), Lohit (20), Tawang and Papumpare at 15 each, East Siang (14), Lower Subansiri (13), Kurung Kumey (12) and Tirap at 10 cases, State Surveillance Officer Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

Eight fresh cases were also reported from Namsai, six from West Siang, four each from East Kameng, Leparada and Lower Dibang Valley, three each from Siang, Pakke Kessang and Kra Daadi, two each from Anjaw and Longding and one each from Upper Siang, Dibang Valley and Lower Siang district respectively, he said.

Among the fresh cases, 280 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 8 through RT-PCR and 7 by TrueNat methods, the SSO said adding, 141 people are symptomatic. The active cases in the land-locked state now stand stands at 2,577, he said. As many as 213 patients were cured of the disease on Monday taking the total number of recoveries in the northeastern state to 32,483, Jampa said.
