ITANAGAR: The Covid-19 tally in Arunachal Pradesh increased to 54,812 with 41 more persons tested positive for the infection, a senior health official said here on Thursday.

The death toll in the northeastern state increased to 279 after two persons succumbed to the killer disease in the past two days, the official said.

A 67-year-old man from the Capital Complex Region died at a Covid health facility here on Wednesday due to acute respiratory distress syndrome with Covid Pneumonia, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

Another man of 80 years of age from Namsai district, died at his own residence on Tuesday due to cardiac arrest and Covid Pneumonia, the official said adding, both the person have taken both the doses of the vaccine.

As many as 54,108 people were recuperated from the disease thus far in the state including 28 on Wednesday, the SSO said.

The recovery rate among Covid-19 patients remained at 98.71 per cent, while the active percentage stood at 0.77.

Arunachal Pradesh currently has 425 active cases.

Lower Dibang Valley district has the highest number of active cases at 74, followed by Lohit (69), West Kameng (62) Tawang (49) and East Siang at 40 cases.

As many as 11,56,591 samples have been tested for Covid-19 so far, including 2,064 on Wednesday, Jampa said adding, the positivity ratio in the state stands at 1.98 per cent.

According to State Immunisation Officer Dr Dimong Padung, a total of 12,15,739 people have been inoculated thus far in the state.
