ITANAGAR: The Covid-19 tally in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 53,156 with 54 more people tested positive for the infection. The toll tally in the frontier State increased to 261, as a person from the Capital Complex Region succumbed to the infection on Wednesday at a health facility here, said State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa ere on Friday..

The 56-year-old man died at the Dedicated Covid Hospital (DCH) here due to acute respiratory distress syndrome with Covid Pneumonia. He was suffering from hypertension.

The Capital Complex Region reported the highest number of new cases at 18, followed by Lower Subansiri (11), Tawang (6), Lohit (4), East Siang (3), two each from Papumpare, Upper Siang and West Kameng and one each from Lower Dibang Valley, Leparada, Kamle, Changlang, Dibang Valley and Anjaw district respectively.

Among the fresh cases, 50 were detected through Rapid Antigen Tests, one through RT-PCR and three by the TrueNat methods, said the official, adding that 23 people were with symptoms.

The active cases in the state now stand at 829. As many as 97 patients were cured of the disease on Thursday taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 52,066.

The recovery rate among the Coronavirus patients in the State stand at 97.95 per cent while the active percentage stands at 1.56 and the positivity rate at 1.88 per cent.

The Capital Complex Region -- comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas -- has the highest number of active cases at 169, followed by Lower Subansiri (91), West Kameng (61), Lower Dibang Valley (49) and Upper Siang with 47 cases.

Altogether, 10,65,329 samples have been tested for Covid-19 in the State so far, including 2,866 on Thursday, added Dr Jampa.

Meanwhile, State Immunisation Officer Dr Dimong Padung informed that a total of 9,87,214 people have been administered Covid-19 vaccine doses so far in the State since the inoculation drive began in January this year.
