ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh reported three more COVID-19 casualties in the past two days, while 342 more people tested positive for the infection, pushing the total caseload in the north-eastern State to 47,142, a senior health official said here on Thursday. The death toll in the State rose to 224.

A 72-year-old lady from the Capital Complex Region died at the Dedicated Covid Hospital (DCH) at Chimpu, near here, on Wednesday due to acute respiratory distress syndrome with COVID Pneumonia, said State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa.

Another lady of 40 years age from Lohit district died at DCH Pasighat in East Siang district on Tuesday due to acute kidney injury while, a 65-year-old person from Changlang died on way to a hospital in Assam's Tinsukia district on Tuesday due to acute respiratory distress syndrome. A total of 10 each cases were also reported from West Siang and Upper Siang, nine each from Lower Siang and Tawang, eight from Namsai, seven from Shi-Yomi, six from Changlang, five each from Anjaw and Siang, four from Kamle, three each from Tirap and East Kameng, two each from Longding and Pakke Kessang and one each from Leparada, Kurung Kumey, Kra Daadi and Dibang Valley district respectively. Among the fresh cases, 320 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 13 through RT-PCR and 9 by TrueNat methods, the SSO said adding, 137 people were symptomatic. The active cases in the State now stand at 4,301.

As many as 325 patients were cured of the disease on Wednesday taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 42,617.
