ITANAGAR: The COVID-19 caseload in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 21,802, with 180 more people tested positive for the infection, a senior health official said here on Monday.

The number of COVID-19 fatalities in the state increased to 81, with three women succumbed to the disease, the official said.

A 51-year-old female from Rho Village in Tawang district died at her residence on Saturday due to COVID Pneumonia while another woman of 33 years from the same district, died on May 15 due to acute respiratory distress syndrome, State Surveillance Officer DrLobsangJampa informed.

Another woman (44) from Chowkham in Namsai district died at Dedicated COVID Hospital (DCH) at Pasighat in East Siang district on Sunday due to COVID Pneumonia. She was suffering from chronic Hepatitis-B with COVID, Jampa said.

Arunachal Pradesh now has 2,260 active cases.

The Capital Complex region recorded the maximum number of fresh cases at 51, followed by Lohit (21), Changlang (20), Tawang (19) and Lower Subansiri (15).

Nine new cases were also reported from West Kameng, eight each from Anjaw and Upper Subansiri, seven from Lower Dibang Valley, Lower Siang (5), three each from Tirap, Upper Siang and East Kameng, two each from Papumpare, Leparada and Longding and one each from Namsai and East Siang district respectively.

Of the fresh cases, 157 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 13 through RT-PCR and 10 through TrueNat method, Jampa said adding, 69 people have symptoms.

At least 168 more people cured of the disease on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 19,461.

The recovery rate among coronavirus patients stands at 89.26 per cent while the active percentage stands at 10.37 and the positivity rate at 8.74 per cent, the official said.

The Capital Complex Region - comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas - has the highest number of active cases at 562, followed by Changlang (190), Lower Dibang Valley (181), Lohit (171), Lower Subansiri (165), Tawang (134), Namsai (128) and West Kameng at 112.

Altogether, 5,02,767 samples have been tested for COVID-19, including 2,059 on Sunday, the SSO said. State Immunisation Officer DrDimongPadung said that 3,05,149 people have been inoculated since the beginning of the vaccination programme in January.

Registration for vaccination of people in the age group of 18-44 years had started from Saturday and the inoculation drive began on Monday, DrPadung added.

The state government on Saturday extended the lockdown in the state capital for another two weeks and enforced strict measures including, curfew throughout the state to contain the spread of the virus. As many as 7,173 cases of COVID-19 protocol violations have been registered in the state and the state government has collected a fine of Rs 10,86,450 so far, police said.
