ITANAGAR: Forty-nine more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, pushing the total caseload in the north-eastern State to 52,214, a senior health department official said here on Monday.
The death toll in the frontier State increased to 259, as two more persons, including a female, succumbed to the infection in the past two days, the official said. A 20-year-old lady died at the Dedicated Covid Hospital (DCH) at Chimpu, near here, on Sunday due to acute respiratory distress syndrome with Covid Pneumonia. She was suffering from Nephrotic Syndrome and severe Anaemia, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.
A 72-year old man from Lower Dibang Valley died on Saturday at a health facility in the district due to Covid Pneumonia. The person had a medical history of hypertension and CVA left hemoparesis since 2015, Jampa said.
Among the fresh cases, 44 were detected through rapid antigen tests and 5 through RT-PCR method, the official said adding, 25 people were symptomatic. The active cases in the State now stand at 1,260, he said.
