ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday reported 54 fresh Covid cases, pushing the virus tally to 65,088, a senior health official said here.

The State had recorded an equal number of new cases on Wednesday, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

The new cases included 11 new cases in the Capital Complex Region, followed by 8 in Lohit, 6 in Leparada, five in Lower Dibang Valley and four each in Upper Siang, Tawang and Lower Subansiri district respectively. Three new cases were also reported from Namsai, two each from Anjaw, Changlang and West Kameng besides one case each from Lower Siang, Tirap and East Siang district, the official said.

Arunachal Pradesh currently has 262 active cases, while 64,530 people have recuperated thus far, including 49 on Wednesday, he said.

The recovery rate stands at 99.14 per cent, while the active rate stood at 0.40 per cent, Dr Jampa said.

The Capital Complex Region, comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas, has the highest number of active cases at 71, followed by Lohit (37), Namsai (35), East Siang (15) and 14 cases each in Upper Siang and Lower Subansiri district respectively.

A total of 12,79,349 samples have been tested for Coronavirus in the State thus far, including 366 on Wednesday, Jampa added.

So far over 17.76 lakh people have been inoculated with Coronavirus vaccines in the State, State Immunization Officer (SIO) Dr Dimong Padung informed.
