ITANAGAR: The COVID-19 caseload in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 64,279, after nine more people tested positive for the infection, a senior Health Department official said here on Monday. Of the fresh cases, two each were registered in the Capital Complex Region and Tawang, one each in Lohit, Longding, Namsai, Lower Subansiri and Tirap district respectively, the official said.
The death toll in the State remained at 296, as no casualty due to the infection was reported in the past 24 hours, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said. As many as 63,681 people have recuperated from the disease so far, including 29 on Sunday, the SSO said.
Arunachal Pradesh currently has 302 active COVID-19 cases, the official said. The recovery rate among patients marginally improved to 99.07 per cent from 99.04 per cent, the previous day. All the fresh cases were detected through rapid antigen tests, Jampa said, adding that five of them have developed COVID-19 symptoms. The Capital Complex Region, comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas, has the highest number of active cases at 52, followed by West Kameng at 34, Tawang (33), Namsai (26), Dibang Valley (23) and Lower Subansiri at 20 cases.
