ITANAGAR: An Arunachalee girl, who was subjected to violence in Uttarakhand, has been rescued and handed over to her parents on Monday, according to the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW).
After the girl's images went viral in social media, the APSCW wrote a letter to Kusum Kandwal, Chairperson of the Uttrakhand Commission for Women, who acted swiftly and rescued the girl.
The APSCW, while appreciating the Uttarakhand women panel, also lauded the tireless hard work of the One Stop Centre Naharlagun team and its counterpart One Stop Centre of Pauri Garhwal, Uttrakhand in rescuing and bringing the victim from Uttrakhand to Arunachal Pradesh.
The Commission also appreciated the help and support by the family, relatives and clan members of the victim for playing the main role for success of the rescue mission.
The women panel has requested the State Government to emphasize on creating awareness among people, especially the young girls, regarding crimes against women and girl child. "Due to lack of awareness on crimes like domestic violence, cyber crime, trafficking and others, the young girls are being taken advantage of and become victims," the APSCW said.
The women body also requested the community-based organizations and other NGOs to ensure vigilant coordination in such cases to prevent unfortunate events towards women and girl child in the society.
