TAWANG: The Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh has entered the famed 'Guinness Book of World Records' for forming the largest helmet sentence, thereby highlighting the significance of road safety. A total of 2,350 Indian Standards Institution (ISI)-marked helmets were used to form 'Jai Hind' at Gyalwa Tsangyang Gyatso High-Altitude stadium in Tawang.
Titled 'Lakshya', the humble effort was organized by the Amazing Namaste Foundation in collaboration with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh and initiated by the Chief Minister - Pema Khandu.
The CM along with the Chairman of Amazing Namaste Foundation - Atul Kulkarni, jointly received the Certificate of Confirmation from Guinness Book of World Records representative - Swapnil Dangorikar.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM noted that the concerned record aims to raise awareness among citizens to put on a helmet and follow traffic regulations to prevent untoward incidences.
According to an official statement issued by the Union Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), Road Traffic Accidents (RTA) registered an exponential surge, when it comes to recent trends of urgent societal challenges. Every day, some 328 people lose their lives, most of which might have been saved through prompt rescue and assistance. Despite the countless road safety initiatives and awareness campaigns, India still tops the list of 199 nations in terms of the number of fatal road accidents and is held accountable for over 11% of all accident-related fatalities across the world.
