Arunachal Pradesh To Get Grant For Mithun & Yak Rearing

Itanagar: The Centre has assured Arunachal Pradesh to provide assistance to strengthen the livestock and fishery sectors including, Central grants for mithun and yak rearing centres in potential districts of the land-locked State.

The assurance came from Union Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries Giriraj Singh during a meeting with State’s Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Dairy Development and Fisheries Minister Tage Taki recently in New Delhi, official sources informed here on Thursday.

Singh assured to establish an extension centre of Mithun Research Centre of Nagaland in Arunachal Pradesh. The Union Minister also assured to take care of the research requirements of mithun in the State besides, providing Central grant for mithun and yak rearing centre in potential districts of the State.

During the discussion about the development of livestock & fishery sectors in Arunachal Pradesh, the Union Minister agreed to provide assistance to the hilly State to boost the sectors.

While suggesting Taki to submit the proposal of piggery project based on ‘Meghalaya Model’ being commissioned shortly, Singh informed that the project may cost around Rs 200 to Rs 250 crore, the sources added.
